First off, this is a type I red/black deck. I didn't start magic in the beginning nor do I have the money for the power 9 and other really expensive type I cards. I play mostly a 2v2 multiplayer game with it. (no shared blocking/life) And since this is just a fun deck, there is no sideboard. Heres what I have:
4 Dark Rituals
1 Sol Ring
4 Tainted Peaks
Creature Control/ Direct damage:
4 Arc Lightnings
2 Lightning Bolts
1 Maze of Ith
4 Hypnotic Specters
2 Bone Shredders
1 Sedge Troll
1 Black Knight
1 Order of Ebon Hand
Fatties (big for metagame here):
4 Sengir Vampires
1 Avatar of Woe
1 Haunting Echoes
1 Demonic Tutor
2 Zuran Orbs
I basically use direct damage to clear the way for hypnotics early-game. Bone Shredder-Unearth is a common combo that I use to get rid of fatties. Unearths are also used to respawn hippies over and over if they are bolted/incinerated. Late game (or early, if I get enough rituals) I pull out the Sengirs. The haunting echoes is also a late-game helper because late game wraths/geddons really hurt this deck. The rest is probably self-explanatory. I was thinking of adding in 4 duress to help the hypnotics live abit longer, but I'm not sure what to cut. Thanks in advance.
Never seen an Entomb, Buried Alive, Animate Dead deck?
I've seen them, but they don't run on the same basis as my deck. I use Unearth as a beginning spell. Most of those other decks use them as a finisher. BTW, any helpful suggestions or comments would be appreciated.
To fill in your fatty requirement, I would use Phyrexian Negator. It is a 5/5 trampler that you can Unearth. I'd cut the creatures you only have 1 of for them since 1-of's aren't good anyway.
I would cut the Zorbs and Pillage for 4 Duress. Maybe even Haunting Echoes, Maze of Ith, and one Sengir out for 4 Hymn to Tourach. I'd also use four Lightning Bolts and two Flame Rifts or Seals of Fire rather than Arc Lightning.
Living Death is probably fun in this deck too.
There are SO very many creatures that cost 3cc or less to cast. And so very many have CIP effects, or can be sacrificed for damage or -x/-x counters. Crypt Rats could be amusing, though your teammate probably won't like it much.
