Okay, first off:
I'm well aware of the limitations on Millstone as a win condition (slow, mana-intensive, does noting to control the board, etc). Because Millstone was the first deck I ever really enjoyed back in "the day", I choose to play it anyway.
Also, this is a MILLSTONE DECK. Think of it as a theme deck devoted to my favorite card. The four Millstones are non-negotiable. Cutting one or replacing one or more with Grindstone, for example, are both right out.
Anyway, here's the deck:
White:
1 Balance
1 Enlightened Tutor
2 Moat
2 Dismantling Blow
4 Swords to Plowshares
Blue:
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Braingeyser
1 Fact or Fiction
1 Merchant Scroll
1 Mystical Tutor
1 Stroke of Genius
4 Counterspell
4 Force of Will
4 Mana Drain
Artifacts:
1 Ivory Tower
1 Zuran Orb
4 Millstone
Mana Sources:
1 Library of Alexandria
1 Mox Pearl
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Sol Ring
1 Strip Mine
3 Plains
3 Wasteland
4 Adarkar Wastes
4 Tundra
7 Island
Dammit. That Ivory Tower should be a Jester's Cap. What am I smoking today? Sorry.
I think additional drawing power may make your life easier. Jayemdae tome is a good retro solution. I think tormod's crypt/timetwister can be good recursion or win condition and definitely worked fine back in the day. You may want to tune your counter base as well with mis-d or mana leak.
Wow, millstone deck was the same for me. I played Michael Loconto's deck(the deck that won the first pro-tour in NY). Although the deck sucked and mike was just really lucky i did have fun with the deck. If i would you i would add some Wrath of gods...to make it alittle more retro. 4 Millstones is alittle over doing it, 2-3 was perfect for a millstone deck. Add the extras in the sideboard. And fill the spot with some card drawing....or maybe even a blinking spirit ....
Actually, I think you guys might be right. A Tome sounds like just the thing. Gives me more to do with Drain mana, too.

Moxen, Sol Ring? How about a Disrupting sceptre?
Tower>Cap. Also, Loconto's deck wasn't bad, it was just type 2, you know.
I'd take a millstone to SB, take away 2 counterspells and a swords or moat for the following:
2 Tramatize
1 Timetwister
1 Tormod's Crypt
Timetwister is horrible in this deck w/ out tormod's crypt, but with is it can me huge! The crypt makes the 1st game against graveyard recursion decks possible...
At the verry least the tramatize would keep from time being called, as much and in general makes the duals faster!

If you want to use retro cards and kill with millstone, why not use Titania's Song?
I used to use Nova Pentacle in my old 2 Millstone deck. Millstone is SOOO good with Balance. J.Cap should remove pesky Gaea's Blessings.

Oh, maybe Humility? Reverse Gravity with Moat?

Alright...
- 2 Dismantling Blow
- 1 Fact or Fiction
- 1 Stroke of Genius
+ 2 Disenchant
+ 1 Tormod's Crypt
+ 1 Helm of Obedience
Actually I strictly think that the replacements are WORSE than what you had.... but they're older, and thats all that really matters in the end... Maybe even getting rid of the mirage tutors
