"Nitsud Nibrud. He is our key."

{Nitsud Nibrud? Who is that?}

"He's a machinist on a mission. Or he was, until Tara proved to no threat. He returned too late for that party anyway. Here, showing you is easiest. Sanctum," he shifted. "Show me the Eradicator."

A new image appeared upon the screen through which they had been sifting information, an immense, towering structure, closely resembling the Phyrexian workings of Sanctum itself came into view. It was wedged impossibly into a canyon, and while it looked to be constructed for some form of mobility, there was no way it was going anywhere now.

"That's the Eradicator. Its story must wait for another time, but suffice it to say that this machine is more than capable of taking Shadow down. Where magic may fail us, technology is a much more bitter form of attack."

SENSOR SWEEP INDICATES DEUTERIUM LEAKOFF AT 3.7 TIMES 10^10 Ci PER SECOND. FUEL REPLACEMENT REQUIRED. ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD IS 68.4% DAMAGED. EMF REPLACEMENT REQUIRED...

Sanctum listed off numerous other problems it detected with Eradicator, and Thrakkiss listened impatiently. For the most part, the first two were the most important to replace if it were to follow his grand scheme. He drummed his fingers on the desk.

"Sanctum, how much of that can you fix, or provide replacements for?"

ERADICATOR MAY BE FIXED BY CURRENT SUPPLIES.

"Sanctum, Nitsud and I are the only ones familiar with the technology who can effect repairs. Estimate how long to bring Eradicator online for its ultimate purpose."

ASSUMING NO DIFFICULTIES, SHORTEST POSSIBLE ESTIMATE IS FOUR MONTHS.

"Wonderful. Jaron, it looks like I'll have to visit our friend Nitsud and tell him the party's not quite over. Help me move this equipment," he pointed to a printout of the noted necessities of Eradicator, "to the sliding pad. We have no time to waste."

After two days of hard labor, most of the supplies were ready for tansport. Thrakkiss had decided that Jaron would remain behind, where he would get in the least amount of trouble. Being unable to speak, he would be incapable of ordering Sanctum to do anything rash, and in any case, he could provide no help with the repairs needed on the Eradicator.

"Now, Sanctum has been instructed to keep you safe. Shadow won't find you here, or even suspect you live. But you are in control of a power that he will want, I'm sure. I don't want you in a position for him to get it."

Jaron had not taken the news well. Thrakkiss had revealed his intentions after the supplies had been sent to the Eradicator's vicinity. He still fancied that he had a role to play in defeating Shadow and Fatestop.

{You haven't changed your mind, have you?} he asked.

"I have not. My mind is set, and you're not going to change it, no, not even if you entered it and rewrote my thoughts. Someday you may be that good, but not today. You see, Jaron, I am your master now. And I command you to stay here. I will be back in around four months.

"Sanctum, bodyslide one to Eradicator's pilot, Nitsud Nibrud," Thrakkiss commanded. Light enveloped him and he was gone.

Fresh pine filled his nostrils. Deep Shadow Forest was nearby, but his goal was the Eradicator. He forgave Sanctum its inaccuracy; the canyon base loomed before him and Deep Shadow lay behind. He could already see Eradicator jutting high into the sky. Half an hour's walk brought him to its foundation.

"Eradicator..." he mumbled.

A humming sound filled the canyon, and a door opened before him. There stood Nitsud Nibrud, slightly taller than half of Thrakkiss' height, and fidgeting with buttons on his outfit. When he saw Thrakkiss, he dropped to his knees and prostrated himself.

"Lord Thrakkiss. I am very much indebted to you for the aid you're providing. My drones have already brought the equipment aboard and are installing it as we speak," Nitsud explained.

"Drones? Eradicator was not equipped with drones."

"Ah see...there was that problem," Nitsud laughed uneasily, fearing some reprimand from Thrakkiss. "While I was in Phyrexia, I saw need to bring some servants along. SLAYER was able to subdue them and make them teachable..."

"SLAYER! You still have SLAYER with you? I had hoped he would die in Phyrexia. I trust Yawg is doing well."

"He's advancing his plans of invasion. I have no doubt that Dominaria Prime will fall easily."

"Rise then, Nitsud. You've done well, and used foresight that I find unexpected in you. How go the repairs?"

Nitsud stood once more, and gestured for Thrakkiss to follow him inside. Techno-mechanical organisms scurried everywhere, welding new equipment into place.

"As you can see, Lord Thrakkiss, repairs are going at a prodigious rate. I expect we'll be done within the week."

"Excellent."

"Oh, and Lord Thrakkiss, I've picked up a few travellers. One is particularly interested in you, and I think you might know the other."

Thrakkiss raised an eyebrow. "Oh really." Nitsud just smiled.

Unwrapping from the mass of bodies swarming a wall, Tal'n came into view. From a nearby doorway, the likeness of Siran Drauka also stepped. Thrakkiss did not know which one to be more surprised at.

"Greetingsss Thrakkisss. Onccce more we meet," the serpent man spoke.

"Umm, hi," said the would-be Siran, if she weren't supposed to be dead. Then she stared coldly at the snake-man.

I've forgotten; how did Siran, or someone that looks like Siran get there? Or was that never stated?

That is to be concluded very shortly. Note Tal'n's presence and recall Siran's origin.

Cool. I've only got maybe one more thing I wanna do with Shadow (probably this evening) before he has any sort of encounter with Thrakkiss. Btw, just so you know, Sara is of some importance to what I'm doing and will need to live one way or another (i.e. please do not have Thrakkiss exterminate her, hurl her across the universe, etc). ;)
