"So, you're the uncle I've heard so much about." Uerel kicked his feet up on a computer console and stared at Jaron with his strange, multicolored eyes. "I don't think you're as great as mother says you are. She's always living in her memories of you. She never saw you as I do."

{Just what do you see then, Uerel?} Jaron was unperturbed by his nephew's comments, though the fact that Uerel was technically older than him was a bit disconcerting. {Perhaps you have a bit more extrinsic view that you'd care to share?}

"Mother always defended any action you ever took, whenever she talked about you. You never did wrong. For a while I almost believed her, that you were the epitome of virtue. You were trustworthy, and she loved you for it."

{What have I done then in your young experience of me to cause that to change?}

"It's not what you've done, but what you haven't done! Thrakkiss and now my own mother - your sister!- have gone to face Shadow. Neither of them has returned yet. Here you sit, content to let others go without making an attempt yourself."

{I have considered plans, Uerel. A two-fold battle using technology and magic that Shadow cannot combat. Both have been tried.}

Uerel leapt to his feet. "And both have failed, Jaron! You know as well as I do that Thrakkiss and most likely my mother are dead now. There goes your plan. If they failed, how then can we stop Shadow and his Fatestop?"

{I try to plan for every contingency I can think of, nephew. Your temper has got the best of you, as well as fear for your mother. You see, I know she is not dead. I am her twin and am linked to her in ways you cannot know. She is not dead. Neither is Shadow. They have both traveled backwards in time and I can no longer reach them.}

"Why did you not tell me this earlier?"

"Tell what?" Sara entered in the middle of the conversation, and was understandably confused, having been doing research of her own elsewhere in Sanctum.

{Shadow and Lin have entered the past.}

"This is bad...oh dear. Look at this. It's a copy of the Häs Naledák. It tells of Shadow's origin. The most amazing thing is that I've read it three times now, and not once has it told the same story."

{What?}

"My master has something to do with it," she explained. "He's been leaving me messages, in my dreams, while I'm awake, and so on. This is the Häs Naledák. It changes so much I cannot decipher it. Jaron, would you read it and tell me what you think?"

{I shall do so.} He opened the book, and began to read...

OOC: Okay. *sputter* I'm gonna try to catch up today. I'm taking this stupid five-week English class, and I've had to re-read Hamlet in the space of a few days. Otherwise, I probably would have posted something else by now.

OOC: Actually, wait for my next post (I'm going to start writing it immediately after finishing this message). I got your e-mail, btw. I want to end this. I'm going to write the essentials from the perspective of Jaron reading the Häs Naledák. I liked some of the stuff in your e-mail, but some of it not so much. ;) I'm just gonna try to end this by the end of the weekend without too much fuss.

I was bored and just throwing out ideas, some I knew were good, others that would make you say, "that's stupid!" but perhaps spark some other ideas. I just wanted to get a little momentum back into our creativity, if nothing else.

If by saying "I want to end this" you want to write the final post, is it too much to ask to have the right to revise it and turn it back over to you for approval before posting? I want my hand in that last post, if I don't get to write it. Please note I said "hand" and not "body." :)

By Shadow (Shadow) on Wednesday, July 18, 2001 - 11:23 pm:

Actually, I want you to write the final post. I just want to write most of the ones between now and then. I can close this up in 2-3 posts plus a final plus any additions you want to make. :)

*thinks outloud* Hmm, Whiteblade's existance has been resolved, that leaves:

Sara
Sara's mentor, Seth
Jaron
Uerel
Aerlin
Jake
The DH
Shadow
Sage Advisor

Am I forgetting anyone?

Whiteblade's existence was resolved, yes - though rather abruptly. In one post he's happily chatting with Sara's mentor, the next we find out he got toasted in an attempt to stop Shadow. Did I miss something or did you just wish to simplify things and skip that? Doesn't matter either way.

Sounds like everyone involved with our plot. Spencer's given his characters a way out, and everyone else I think has left or just don't want to butt in on our plotting. Out of random curiosity, whatever happened to the character of Adunakhor, Sage's bodyguard or whatever? That's a "just for my own satisfaction" question; it has no bearing or relevance to the story.

Yes, I actually did skip a lot of things.

Hmmm. Adunakhor. Good question. I'll have to think about that. I think he ran off to kill some vampire or something.

dammit. the 2nd half of the post that I was going to write yesterday turned out to be harder to generate than I thought. The problem is that I can't particularly effectively write Jake or Uerel, because I don't know their character. I'll try to keep their actual actions away from the main thing I want to do, so that you can write them. *grah!* *can't think straight*

By Elrohir (Elrohir) on Friday, July 20, 2001 - 05:17 pm:

Send me what you're working on, and I'll help it a bit. Like I told you, I wouldn't know about bringing Jake in, because that's a part of me buried for four years. I don't rightly remember his character much myself. Uerel is new, and I don't know him very well either. I have a sense about him, but that's all. Just...let me see what you have.

erm, hmm, didn't see this till I'd finished posting all of what I had stored up. It's all response to my last post.
