(OOC - If there is anything in here that does not fit in with current events in Phaema, let me know and I will try to accomodate you with fixes to make things fit in.)

---

As Tivadar limped through the gates leading into the Valley of Thorn, tears streaked his face. The home he had known for years was in ruins. The formidable gates of the past were now nothing more than crumbling stone.

He walked from the gates into the town square. The doors of every dwelling in the town had been blasted off their hinges, creating gaping holes of darkness where there was once merry light.

The stooped, limping man slowly gravitated toward his own dwelling place of old, fear at what lay ahead gnawing at his mind. As he stepped over the threshold, he gasped and fell to the ground in despair.

---

A TALL WHITE MONOLITH, BASKING IN THE BRIGHT LIGHT OF THE HARSH SUN... THE PROSPECTS OF DISCOVERY AND UNTOLD POWER... RUNES TRACED, THE DOOR OPENS...

---

Tivadar looked around the room, and beheld the remains of his family and the destruction of his home. His wife and two children were forever frozen, looking out the blasted doorway and over the hills. Their hair grew long and white, and their eyes were wide with shock. Their bodies were preserved, but badly burnt, past any possibility of resurrection. Tivadar stormed out of the house and left his hometown, sure that what he had brought upon his family was prevalent throughout the Valley. He was never to look back again.

---

A PARTY WALKING CAUTIOUSLY INTO THE WHITE TOWER AND INTO A LARGE ROOM... IN THE CENTER OF THE ROOM, A LARGE TOME... (how did it get here? what is this place?)... A TALL, PROUD KNIGHT WALKING OVER TO THE BOOK... HE OPENS IT, AND NOTHING WILL EVER BE THE SAME AGAIN...

Hrm, hrm... Hey, welcome back, Tiv! Strangely enough, I've begun to develop the Alabaster Monolith (White Bastion) for my story, since the issue was left unresolved years ago. I currently have plans for a direction to take with them, and some corrections to your information will need to be made.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, Oor-Tael sent Master Sunset and some extra help with you to your return to the Valley of Thorn and the Alabaster Monolith. Because the story was never really continued, and Sunset eventually returned alone, I took some liberties to describe what went on there. Currently, I've introduced the idea of the Wraith-kin and a strange illness also associated with them, both originating from the powers of the Alabaster Monolith. Right now, none of the other members of that expedition survived, and presumably that included you, though we never resolved that you had truly died (I had planned to explore that later, but your return makes that irrelevant). Presuming you lived (as it's obvious you did), one of two things now you must deal with (and probably both). But more background.

The Wraith-kin and illness (according to what I've made "public knowledge") are both derived back to the original Atog Wars, and the need to seek balance in atonement for the evil deeds done back then by Jake the Atog God and others. As a result, both have been seemingly unleashed upon the world to hunt down and kill the last survivors of that ancient conflict. At this point, they have very nearly succeeded. I don't remember exactly, but you probably were around during AW3, so you'd have some connection. Even if you weren't, the fact remains that you were with the expedition that sought out the Alabaster Monolith, and so became an extraneous (but also marked) target of the Wraith-kin and the illness. I'll leave it up to you whether or not you caught the illness, but the Wraith-kin will be angry at you for "violating" their "home," and will hunt you until your demise.

As for what you found in the Valley of Thorn, e-mail me more specifics of what you're building on, and we'll do some continuity fixes on things, since you've been gone a long while. If you have time, I strongly suggest reading the Role Playing Mill home page (http://www.elrohirs-elaborations.com/rpmhp/), as I've massively updated it (admittedly, not recently) since you las were here, and it's current up to the middle of summer, though things have slowed down and I've been without internet for a couple of months.

Anyhoo, glad to have you back, and I look forward to working with you once more. If you have any questions, please ask me.

Just out of curiosity, have the wraith-kin, up until now, shown any apparent weaknesses/vulnerabilities (i.e. can you kill them)? I don't recall.

Hopefully I'll find a spot of time around Christmas, in which I can post some longer stuff.

Maybe I'll just give up sleep.

You haven't already? Man, your problems are worse than we originally thought.

*In his best John Wayne drawl*

Listen up, 'son. I don't need any of that thar lip. Ya hear? Ya best stop yer tomfoolery or I'll put a bullet in ya.

By Ravyson on Sunday, October 15, 2000 - 01:48 am:

Hey, I'm a native Texan. I can do the drawl better than you can dream of. So bow before me, mortal.

By Elrohir (Elrohir) on Sunday, October 15, 2000 - 02:01 am:

Umm...I don't think it's wise to call Shadow mortal. Not wise at all...

By Ravyson on Monday, October 16, 2000 - 02:30 am:

I see your point. I bow to you, umm, master.

*stupid drunken smile*
