I am new with the donate-illusions deck and cumulative upkeep is confusing me a little. Question is that if I give illusions of grandeur to my opponent after paying it upkeep once for myself, does he has to pay 2 or 4 mana during his next upkeep for keeping it in play?

4. It has "cumulative upkeep counters" on it, and the count doesn't change just because it changed controllers.
