since we are kinda on the topic:
oh, and a quick side note ...classic-trash looks pretty cool, but they don't mention the best game of all time...yea, im gonna make you figure it out
anyway, i just got a PS2 (and dont argue with me about getting an XBOX,...ive looked over the games and I like PS2 better, plus I have some PSX games)
here's the question: what games are good enough to buy...i've rented a few, but not bought any yet...here's what i think:
Gauntlet - a bit redundant, but Blinky will play it with me and I love the original, so we'll probably get it
Resident Evil: Veronica - never played a RE before...seems cool, but kinds slow for my tastes
Devil May Cry Demo - Nice and fast and seems very cool...I'm just worried about the special powers being too difficult to implement
Armored Core 2 - I love mech games and with all the combos of weapons/accessories available seems cool, but I can't even get past the first mission (the mech seems hard to control)
Dark Angel - fast-paced Diablo-like killing, only it seems to get repetitive a lot faster
Ico - very cool looking/sounding and I love the idea (dragging some princess out of a large forboding castle) but it seems rather plain
those are the 6 i have seen....what do others recommend?
some side notes :
I love hockey and football, but whenever i get one of these games, i play it a few times, get bored with the repetiveness (butt-whippings i take) and give up (are the newer ones any better (2002))
how are the racing games: GT3, Driving Emotion, Super Car Street Challenge
and what about DoA2 and Grand Theft Auto
thanx
I don't have a PS2 but my best friend does and he has Grand Turismo 3, Madden 2k, Twisted Metal 3 and they all kick ass!!
Grand Theft Auto 3 is the best game I've played in a very long time. I HIGHLY recomend it.
Madden 2002-the best football game ever!
Grand Theft Auto 3-best in the series, almost as much fun to watch as it is to play..
Silent Hill 2-the creepiest, most disturbing game I've ever played.
Metal Gear Solid 2. It's the best looking game I've ever seen on any system and the AI is unbelievably good.
Metal gear solid is VERY good
so is GTA3, the funnest game i've ever played
Armoured core is very fun but a little repeteive
Terah, Pie God
THPS 3 is also pretty good
If you don't already have it, Tekken Tag Tournament.
MGS2, obviously.
If you're an RPG fan, Final Fantasy X is coming out soon.
THPS3 is great as is SSX Tricky. If you like wrestling, Smackdown: Just Bring It is great.
what do you all think of DOA2...i rented it today and played a little bit...at first, it seems to kick butt, but then you realize you really dont know what yer doing, just pushing buttons and getting lucky...i even looked at the move list and lots of the moves are so similar and the buttons are sensitive, so you may execute something competely different than expected...to me, it looks great, but play will get boring quick
any thoughts?
what is thps, btw
doa 2 is cool but does get old after a while thps is Tony Hawks Pro Skater
FFF Top 5
1) Soul Calibur 2
2) Twisted Metal Black
3) Metal Gear Solid 2
4) GTA3
5) DOA2
My Top 5 so far for PS2 that i have played
1) Grand Theft Auto 3 (its truly amazing, and shocking. I happily spend hours playing this thing just wandering around getting into trouble.)
2) Metal Gear Solid 2 (all around amazing, a good sequel to the ps game, really intense)
3) Gran Turismo 3 (THE racing simulator. Its got 100+ hours of play time with your name on it)
4) Devil May Cry (its simple to implement all the moves, and in fact, i would say the great controls is its best feature, you will be doing cool shit in no time)
5) Capcom vs. SNK 2 (its the best fighting game on the system currently, and probably will be until tekken 4 comes out. Its a much slower pace from the marvel vs capcom games though, and that takes some getting used to)
im most likely going to finish MGS2 on my rental and I'm not a replay type of gamer. Was the PSX game any good?
Just wait for Xenosaga .
As an aside, I played Metal Gear on my NES the other day. It's exceedingly difficult.
Saltz
I have a big handful of games, but the only two that I enjoyed a lot were Gran Turismo 3 and, to a lesser extent, SSX Tricky. Also, Tekken Tag looked & played fine but it didnt really grab me (despite having played a lot of arcade Tekken).
The mostly unplayed pile is Dynasty Warrior 2, Onimusha, James Bond, Nascar 2001 and Ico. Some of this stuff I got from friends; I wouldnt have bought it for myself. Which influences the fact that I didnt end up playing them a lot I suppose. OTOH, I wouldnt have bought SSX Tricky and I ended up liking it. :-)
