Quote:Scott Kasliner, who is a Neutral Ground Online columnist, went 14-0 in games with his Type 1 Mono-blue control deck. He then found the blue control deck on the Beyond Dominia website, which specializes in the Type 1 format. Scott described his team's reaction to the deck: "My team asked me, 'Where's your good cards, where's your Stroke of Genius?'" It's safe to say that his teammates are now content with the build, as it has yet to lose a game going into the finals.
Impressive.
Of course, I still think my B/W Control would "teach it a lesson".
Anyone feel like copying the deck, verbatim, and having a go with yours truly on Apprentice?
I promise not to snicker again (even when I win). ;-)
Did you see the round 1 coverage where the guy, can't remember his name, was playing mono blue and he was still playing Impulse?
I think most people on here have dumped Impulse by now. However, he did win 2-0 though, however I think the standard in the Type 1 portion is puite poor in general, wonder why (sarcasm)?
If only more people gave a damn about Type 1. *sigh*
I thought Impulse was good in mono blue, including Acc Blue?
I also like Impulse in mono U! It's a great card
That's fine, I am not saying Impulse is a bad card or anything and that it should not be used.
I just thought that many people had stopped using it.
Can we please leave it at that, I don't want to turn this into a big discussion about Impulse.
*continues laughing at that cocky kid*
Cheers, Barktooth
Generally speaking, if you run 28 mana sources Impulse becomes less useful since it is basically a card to create consistent draws.
I wonder what build they used. I'm curious to see how they'd react if they knew we've made it better since when they're probably talking about.
14-0 is some good though. My guess? Most people thought of T1 as being all Keeper and the B2B slaughtered them.
That is hilarious.
The sad part is, I e-mailed the guy about it with my list and why I thought that trix might be bad for him, and look what happens.... Wow.
And the version I sent him was the one that had 2 Scrolls and hadn't dropped the Leaks yet.
Oh, and by the way:
*sticks tongue out to no one in particular*
Azhrei: We can ask him. He's a member of Bad Magic Tech e-group.
Parrot, what list exactly?
How do people find out about these things to email pros ideas? Why does no one tell me?
RAKSO! Keep me informed!
Az- I think it was my exact T1ToC4 deck. If it was not, I don't know the complete list then.
And he put his e-mail address at the end of the article anyway. There was nothing to stop you from doing what I did. :-)
>>>That's fine, I am not saying Impulse is a bad card or anything and that it should not be used.
I am in the minority (at least Big Blue, sorry Dr. Big Blue, agrees with me), but I feel at least 3 (I use 4) Impulse are needed. Merchant Scroll is good, and I used it for some time, although I don't know if I would run more than one.
--Matt
Clarify: Merchant Scroll is good in Acc Blue?
Please, where could I find the decklist for the Type One 2001 Sideboard Team Challenge Coverage??
Matt: Yes, I agree 100%. I thought also Parrot and Acolytec agreed (at least on an intermediate stage) that Impulse were good. For reasons explained elsewhere I believe it is better than Merchant Scroll in acc.blue.
Azhrei: What? If you run 28 mana sources Impulse becomes less useful?!
I strongly disagree - I even don't see a big difference between Impulse in a deck with, say, 26 or with 28 mana sources. The subtle difference is just, that with only 26 sources you will Impulse more often for mana than for Supermen/Kegs(!)/Broken Cards. That's why I also advocate 27-28 mana and 3-4 Impulse (induced by Matt and a thread some months ago). But then again, maybe I am just impulsive...
Barktooth: Sorry; seems that the discussion really turned into an Impulse thread ;)
Ermm... if everyone wants to talk about Impulse why don't you start a separate thread and get a more focused answer to the question:
Impulse or No Impulse?
Cheers, Barktooth
Matt, I do agree that Impulses are good. The problem is that there is absolutely nothing I want to cut right now. I'm happy right now with my two quasi-tutors, as they let me play a Capsize and a Stroke maindeck.
Oh, and Matt: Merchant Scroll is soooooo amazing in mono-blue. I had two before, and I did like it, but I cut one so that I could have room for the Mystical Tutor, which I had forgotten.
Whoever asked: www.sideboard.com is where the Origins coverage is.
thanks, Parrot, but the deckslist aren´t there. It´s very strange. Is really WoTC not listing the deckslists of the Type One format?
Why?
Are They afraid people start playing Type One again??
They put there "stupid" list like the Limited Tourneys (within a few hours), but They don´t put Type One list?
