Well, Here is a pretty minimal tournament report. and brief intro.

My cousin and myself heard about this tourment about a month previous and started preparing for it. I decided on powered Parfait and he went with SRB with fork.

The week leading upto the tournament we find out only one other person is registered for it, so we start thinking that it's not going to happen. We started recruiting people to play in the tournament on FNM and actually got 2-3 more people in after preaching how type 1 wasn't all about turn 2 kill combo decks. Helped this kid with a R/G deck he actually went 2-1 with.

Well we arrive on saturday morning right when the tournmanet is going to begin. I trade some people a few cards they need and were off.

There were 10 participants... (oh well atleast we still got to play righ?)

Well, I see a bargain deck, a TURBOLICH deck!!!! (the only fully powered deck) the R/G deck and a few Opidian based decks and a Mono Black discard.

Round 1: Elves + Coat of Arms + Recycle.

Game 1: I take some early beatings but eventually drop moat, tax, orb etc and ping everything of his away with core and eat him up.

Game 2: He sides in 4 Creeping Molds 4 Tranquility
and can keep nothing on the board even though draw a few Argivan Find's and replenishes... he gets recycle down and hammers me into oblivion. Never saw any of my 2 Abolish or 3 Aura's...

Game 3: Time gets called soon after we start.
Draw.. damnit!

Round 2: Mono Black discard.
He has a pretty suboptimal deck with Supress (which he casts many times to no aval) and some other random thrulls and dauthi's ... i get a god draw against him game 1 and 2 drawing and playing early ivory masks and story circles... I had to break it to him that there was really nothing he could do and he conceded the first game then got smashed by pegasi the second.

Round 3: SRB
This was against my cousin he was 1-1 at the time
losing to the Turbolich player quickly. We see
the top 4 decks are all mono blue and combo so I decided to concded to him since I really don't have much of a chance of beating combo without a quick Lotus+Mask and lets just not talk about control mm k? ... we play it out for fun and he ends up beating me 2-1 he came prepared for my deck not suprisingly pack 4 anarchy in the sb... ;/

Round 4: Bad Coalition Victory deck.

Game 1: I get every spell i need when i need it
stp spiritmonger, aura your draco, wrath your 3 birds.. etc i get out masticore and it's game.

Game 2: I get out moat, story circle )green) and
etc.. but never see ANY creature kill ... at all
he eventually gets out a sliver queen as time is called we go into five turns and on the very last turn he plays coalition victory I am like uhhhhh
ummmm uhhh ... i don't think i have any responses to that .. then i hear... he doesn't have a mountain in play (casted from thran quarry) ... oh yeah .. thats good ...

So ... you would think they would do a top 4 right?...

Nope..

Damnit I know I didn't have much of a chance but I think my cousin had a decent chane.. damn... anyways the 2 combo decks decided to
draw in the finals, after the judges suggested they do so.. grr...

Anyways it was great playing in my second ever type 1 torunment (last time with keeper) and I hope I can find somewhere in oregon that does it more often...

anyways, just thought i would let you guys know..
