Alright... I played in a tournament today at Quantum Cards in Montreal. They hold a T1 tourney on labor day each year. Last year (my first time playing in this tournament), I lost in the quarterfinals, only to receive a bye into the semis where I again lost. This year I played Nevyn's TurboLand deck. Rounds were best out of three, single elimination (with byes when there was an odd # of people in the next round.)

Round 1, Earl playing Pox

This sucked. Earl's a good friend of mine, and I had lent him a bunch of cards, and then we play each other in the first round.

Game 1: He destroys me. First turn, ritual, duress, hymn. He soon Poxed a few times and then got two racks on me, I had no chance.

Game 2: Again, first turn duress. He was rolling really well, had a Rack, Cursed Scroll, two Factories and a Negator out. I was at 6 life. And then I TDed a Fastbond and went off.

Game 3: Similar to game two, He was beating down with a Mishra's and a Cursed Scroll when I go off on turn 4.

Match: 1-0
Games: 2-1

Round 2: Matt, playing Sligh

Matt's a young kid, playing in his first tournament. He beat an Elf deck to get here.

Game 1: I went off third or fourth turn...

Game 2: He gets some early creatures and some burn. I'm at 4 life with Fastbond and Horn of Greed on the table. I play 3 lands hoping to draw a ZOrb, but I didn't, so I conceded.

Game 3: Another very fast game. Third turn I got to combo pieces in and won.

Match: 2-0
Games: 4-2

Round 3: Lucas playing Suicide Black

He had some problems at the beginning of the tournament and almost got DQed, but he managed to avoid it.

Game 1: I get a good hand, but he's killing me. I manage to cast Timetwister, and then go off on the same turn.

Game 2: I get a second turn Duress taking Hatred. But he still gets a Negator and two Carnophages down and I lose before I can go off.

Game 3: I had to paris twice this game. I made two huge mistakes here. First off, I had a brain fart and forgot to SB in Balance. He's doing well, has a Negator, a Carnophage and 2 Factories out. I cast Timetwister and Get some decent stuff including Lotus and Seismic Assault. I was at 5 life at this point. I gushed, returning two lands to my hand. At this point, I SHOULD have dealt 6 damage to his Negator, but I didn't. He ended up casting a Sacromancy and when he did Attack he had two many permanents so I still died.

Games: 5-4

There are three people in the semis now... And I get a bye... again. I hope this time I'll finally get to the final.

Round 4: Daniel, playing 9 land green (with tropical islands for Time Walk and Ancestral).

He's the only other guy with power in this tournament.

Game 1: He gets rolling fast. I get a ZOrb out, and try to stabilize, but he has too many creatures and I'm soon dead.

Game 2: I SB in Balance. I have a decent hand, which I keep. After a few turns, I'm looking at a green army. I Tutor for Balance and Balance. I soon after cast Twister, and then my deck screwed me over. He had a bunch of creatures out again, and I drew like half my deck, but I couldn't get either a Fastbond, a Lotus, or one of my 3 ZOrbs, Or one of my 4 Gushes...

So I get into the semis again and then lose. Oh well, maybe next year.
