Now this is a fast combo/aggro deck that should go off by turn 3, or sooner depending on Fastbong/Moxen. Sylvan Library being the key card as a PoK/Sylvan=7 cards in hand, and Tithe/Land Tax/Sylan=3 new cards a turn. The argothian enchatress is just for fun. If you wanted you could probably replce her with 4 Lay of the Land, or land grant. Anyway.....

Once again, a very aggressive deck, with a great help from Sylvan. Along with the land grants, once again a great shuffler, allowing you to see 3 new cards each turn, instear of those emerald charms you don't need at the time, you now have 3 gg. And of course control....
Well, I don't want to have to post long ass decks, so just think of Enchantment control (i.e moat, ivory mask, sterling grove, SYLVAN LIBRARY, and abundance/kill card) and of course Keeper. Sylvan has saved my ass so many times in Keeper its not even funny. Every time I draw my enlightend tutor, people say "Gonna get your Sol Ring", no I always get my Sylvan. Sylvan usually=game. Thanx.

By SerraCollector (Collector) on Friday, October 12, 2001 - 02:47 pm: Everyone in my area Enlightend Tutors for a Sol Ring (sol ring=$1) not everyone owns a Black lotus, and Sol Ring doubles your mana more or less. And yes Sylvan=draw 3 cards, PoK=skip draw 3 cards, sac: draw 7, and you don't even have to pay the 8 life. I love that combo.

By SerraCollector (Collector) on Friday, October 12, 2001 - 04:50 pm: Yeah, but, with PoK, if you have multiples out you can trigger one, skip three of those, trigger another, etc. drawing a mass amount of cards. Most of them being land or land grabers (i.e tithe/land tax) and the kill is land's edge. In some decks abundnace/sylvan may be good, but in stompy its hard to get 4 mana, and in enchantress combo, its nor necessary. And I've never seen anyone use abundance in Keeper. Enchantment lock, possibly. But otherwise I don't know. Thanx though

Besides, if you can cast 1RR, you should be able to cast RRR.

Is Black Lotus any good if you have nothing to cast with it? I think Sylvan Library does great as simple draw card VS control. Thats the same as saying land tax isn't good unless you have scroll rack and vice versa. Sylvan Library works well in many deck, both by itself and as a helper with many other cards. Thats all.
By White Knight (White_Knight) on Friday, October 12, 2001 - 06:33 pm: A card that for 1G draws 3 cards is good. It happens so that this one makes you pay 8 life to get them. Stanstill, for example, costs 1U and gets you those same 3 cards with no fuss.
I know it's a different mechanic and I'm not trying to dismiss sylvan library, but it's a bit limited still. You said it: it's good vs control decks. How about others?

By Robb on Friday, October 12, 2001 - 09:26 pm: In control matchups it is a must counter and will spell a win (that is W-I-N) for the player to get it out first most of the time. It is not as great against sligh and stompy for the extra card drawing but with the other tutors making you shuffle it sure helps find answers more quickly.
I use a second sylvan in my SB vs control or combo.
I have often wanted to play abundance as well but it is cost prohibitive (2G ain't always easy) and it is really just an awesome "trick" that you can't count on finding. Still sounds great though.
