Torment card.

Chainers edict
1b
Sorcery
Target player sacrifices a creature
Flashback: 3BB

Does it make the cut?

By Peztacular on Thursday, January 03, 2002 - 08:17 pm:

My bad - the flashback is 5BB

Big difference. Same question stands.

By BizzyBone on Thursday, January 03, 2002 - 08:35 pm:

its a sorcery, so i doubt it.

By Burimpu on Thursday, January 03, 2002 - 10:37 pm:

Not a chance.

It if said "Target opponent...", then maybe.

By Rakso, Patriarch & Rules Ayatollah (Rakso) on Thursday, January 03, 2002 - 11:22 pm:

If you could pay the Flashback, you probably have other things to do. :)

Randomly eating Ball Lightning on the other hand sucks, or not being able to Edict in your EOT when both control people want to fight over it.

By Liam (Liam) on Friday, January 04, 2002 - 12:16 am:

i'll take an instant speed over a crap flashback anyday

By Matt Caplan (Caplan) on Friday, January 04, 2002 - 12:19 am:

Amen to that, brother.

By Gnu, the Lightbringer (Gnu) on Friday, January 04, 2002 - 08:14 am:

Yeah, Diabolic Edict is good because it's an instant -)

By Reper (Reper) on Saturday, January 05, 2002 - 11:35 am:

yea chainers edict is better and monkeys may fly out of my butt

By YNC on Sunday, January 06, 2002 - 11:18 am:

"yea chainers edict is better and monkeys may fly out of my butt"

I guess its better than :p

By Reper (Reper) on Sunday, January 06, 2002 - 05:17 pm:

By granor on Monday, January 07, 2002 - 01:26 pm:

however, is it important that black can now pack 8 morph killers?

By Robb on Monday, January 07, 2002 - 02:34 pm:

But that leaves nothing to do but wait and try to kill morph. Not important. It will see play in Type 2 perhaps but not T 1.

By FBI, the Phyrexian Bloodhound (Fbi) on Monday, January 07, 2002 - 02:44 pm:

control already has a 2 mana sorcery that kills morph...and for the 5 mana needed to flash it back you could just play a morph of your own ;-)

By granor on Monday, January 07, 2002 - 03:02 pm:

would you use it to replace spinning darkness in the side?
It saves your Y's Will however the life gain is important so I am not sure... of course I am looking at the card as if it doesn't have flashback due to the cost. Unless you are sitting on 2 dark rits with nothing better to play (a very bad spot to be in) I don't see ever actually using the fashback not when it costs 5BB.

By BeBe, the Redeemer (Bebe) on Monday, January 07, 2002 - 03:04 pm:

Spinning Darkness is really a sideboard card for Sligh. Chainer's does not touch it.

By granor on Monday, January 07, 2002 - 03:19 pm:

Why not? You can cast it sooner and your Y's will works better or do you take Y's will out when you put in the spinning darkness?

By BWM on Monday, January 07, 2002 - 03:41 pm:

What does the Flash-back cost matter??? It's about the same as Morph itself... When they can play Morph, you can kill the second one... and I thought everybody in T1 used Mana Drain...

By Liam (Liam) on Monday, January 07, 2002 - 04:53 pm:

Mana Drain would only give 1B.

However who plays 4 edict and wishes for more?

And Diabolic is far, far better, being an instant, as if you have to pay 5BB to kill a Morphling you're already dead.

By Liam (Liam) on Monday, January 07, 2002 - 04:54 pm:

sorry mana drain give 2 off a flashback'd chainer's

By granor on Monday, January 07, 2002 - 05:09 pm:

BWM I was looking at the card in a mono black deck to replace spinning darkness so using mana drain is not an option.

Spinning darkness is better against Sligh but what about all the other critter based decks? My metagame is full of them.

what if you have masicore in your back deck now you can still use chainers does that change the value of the card?

By Rakso, Patriarch & Rules Ayatollah (Rakso) on Tuesday, January 08, 2002 - 03:26 am:

?

If you have Masticore, then you can do quite a few things with Spinning Darkness vs creatures, don't you think?

By granor on Tuesday, January 08, 2002 - 11:32 am:

I guess the only situation the chainers really makes sence is against mono U that only runs 4 morphs as the win condition and the black deck should do well against these without the chainers...
