I was playing Zombie infestation vs Freedan's suicide black... to put it simple, i got destroyed. I had answers to all his threats, but I coulndt get past 1 land both game (sinkhole, wasteland weirdness).

First game it went ritual specter, 2nd turn sinkhole, 3rd turn wasteland with sarcomancy token to apply beatdown why massive discard to seal the deal. Had balance in hand. No lands. :(

I sideboard nothing.
Second game, i go city of brass, he go ritual sinkhole sarcomancy, second turn hymn, 3rd turn negator while i struggle to find lands to cast balance... i sword the negator, he cast rotting giant, then an hyppie and im dead. He wastelanded my land the turn before i balance for the win. Oh well ;)

Globally it was disappointing, cause i didnt had the chance to even put up a fight even if i had answers to all his threats... ah the power of suicide black ;)

Since most of you don't know me, I hang around a lot in #bdchat, and lurk on these boards. Anyway, the matchup was me (Suicide Black) vs. Fireang3L (Infestation combo deck). Azhrei called me an idiot in my building of this deck (in the deleted decklist thread) for not including Lotus/Jet, and though I don't play those cards IRL, I have to agree, I'm an idiot. But without further ado...

First game, I play first. I had a pretty nice opening hand, with Ritual, Specter, Hymn, Sarco, Sinkhole, Waste, and a swamp... first turn I go ritual-specter, second turn waste his Scrubland and drop the Sarco, third turn Sinkhole, and from then on proceeded to strip his hand bare while rapidly reducing his life total to zero. When I won he had no cards in hand and only one permanent on the table... it was an absolute slaughter.

I sideboard nothing, as I don't have Crypt/Planar Void, a move I hope I don't regret. Fortunately, Suicide Black is probably the worst nightmare of a slow combo deck like this one by itself.

Game 2 I mulligan a one-land hand, draw a mediocre 6-card hand, but with lots of mana denial, which proves to be amazing today. First turn I Ritual out a Sinkhole on his City and bring out a Zombie token. Second turn I hymn away Balance, which has to be painful for him. Third turn I play a Negator, which is soon sent packing to the fields of Phyrexia, but after bringing my opponent back down to one land, I cast a Rotting Giant (I REALLY wish these were Nantuko Shades, but Torment is coming a couple months too late). Anyway, it had plenty of fuel in the graveyard, and his life total is rapidly reduced to nothing.

In terms of how I played, I didn't really make any mistakes, but with the luck factor being squarely in my favour, plus the slow speed of the Infestation deck (he didn't draw any acceleration either game), there really wasn't much I could do to screw it up. Props to FiReaNG3L for being a good opponent and for being gracious in defeat, good luck in the rest of the tourney.

Don't worry, I would never pack a single Mox if I was playing Null Rod maindeck. Lotus however... so this makes you only half an idiot of what Az called you:P

Hey, we all make mistakes;)
