By Khy (Khy) on Tuesday, May 21, 2002 - 02:35 pm:

Mana: (23)
4x Taiga
4x Plateau
3x Savannah
3x Land Grant
3x Tithe
1x Strip Mine
2x Wasteland
1x Mox Emerald
1x Mox Ruby
1x Mox Pearl

Critter: (17)
4x Kird Ape
4x Savannah Lion
3x Goblin Legionnaire
3x Anurid Scavenger
3x Gorilla Shaman

Burn: (10)
4x Lightining Bolt
4x Incinirate
2x Fireblast

Bost: (7)
1x Berserk
3x Wax/Wane
3x Reckless Charge

Misc: (3)
2x Cursed Scroll
1x Wheel of Fortune

Sb: (15)
2x Wasteland
3x Guerrilla Tactics
2x Disenchant
4x Pyroblast/Red Elemental Blast
4x Honorable Passage

Use Tithe and Land Grant to gett thouse nasty lands out of the library, and secure your manabase at the same time.
Scavenger getts back bolts and boost cards, and in the worst case a tithe or so... and it survives abyss. (Moat can be tricky, but at the other hand, it´s seldom played)

Goblin Legionnaire make you able to survive pandeburst abit longer, and kill critter burn oponent.

Tithe makes that Fireblast isnt that horrible afterall, even if I dont kill my foe.

I use Guerrilla Tactics over Psychic Purge, Compost, Spiritual Focus and so on... (not in tourneys since ther tend to be pretty few discard decks...)

The other cards is pretty standard, so I dont think there is any questions about em...

If you are playing 3 colors you might as well go with a zoo-ish deck, so you have fliers (serindib) and draw magic.

I think that this sort of deck can be ok, but that zoo is way better, and even it is questionible.

This is a Zoo list that Legend and I have been optimizing for a bit.

Optimized Zoo: Ver 3.5
(11)
4 Skyshroud Elite
4 Call of the Herd
1 Regrowth
2 River Boa

(11)
4 Serendib Efreet
3 Psionic Blast
1 Timetwister
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Time Walk
1 Mystical Tutor

(13)
4 Kird Ape
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Incinerate
1 Wheel of Fortune

Mana: 25
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Mox Emerald
1 Sol Ring
1 Black Lotus
4 Mishra's Factory
4 Taiga
4 Tropical Island
4 Volcanic Island
4 City of Brass

SB
4 Compost
4 Red Elemental Blast
4 Blue Elemental Blast
3 Hull Breach

Call of the Herd gives you mid and laste game spells when reservs dry up, or if the draw magic stalls.

But both Legend and I (as well as allot of others here at BD) agree that mono color aggro decks are more consistant, so are overall better decks.

I still like the broken-ass cool zoo draws though.

Actually, R/G/w is really good as well.

4x Savannah Lions
4x Wax/Wane

4x Kird Ape
4x Lightning Bolt
4x Incinerate

4x Hidden Gibbons
4x Skyshroud Elite
4x Quirion Ranger
2x Sylvan Library
4x Rancor

3x Winter Orb

4x Savannah
4x Taiga
3x Plateau
4x Land Grant
1x Strip Mine
3x Wasteland

Sideboard to taste. This above deck is slightly different from what I normally play, but it should be highly effective against heavy-control decks that can't catch your smaller guys and don't have the defensive firepower to do it anyways.

I know all that freddie, my deck is faster, and have more controll. Tho I dont have any flyers, and cant use P9 cards like timewalk and ancestral. But it´s still very good.
I wanna concentrate on G/R/W in this thread, and forgett that zoo even exist. (c:

kirdape» that deck looks like a typical stompy to me, ut insted of monogreen you splash it. There is no really good reason for doing so since you dont gain much controll from it, and you adventure your manabase.

The good thing with the deck I made is that it can be REALLY fast. At the same time does it include alot of controll, and it can survive late game really good.
Winter Orb in this deck will prolly only slow it down since I actually CAN make use of all the mana!

I have slightly cut down on the mana (to 22) and removed an Anurid Scavenger. And added a Balance, Fastbond and a Mox diamond.

By MattB (Mattb) on Thursday, May 23, 2002 - 12:01 pm:

I think the most obvious question is Anurid Scavenger? You have no way to tutor for cards and no card drawing, why do you think they are good? The point of your deck is to end games quickly, the game would have to go more than 30 turns for your Scavenger to have any effect. How about 3 Calls of the Herd instead of the Scavengers? I also prefer Blurred Mongeese or River Boas over your Legionairres. Blowing themselves up for 2 is nice, but having something Abyss-proof would be helpful, and Boas are just good. Last thing, Mox Diamond blows. You're already very land light, now your going to have to pitch one to put a Diamond in play, that is going to be destroyed by a Mox Monkey? Doesn't sound like a good plan to me.

I shuffle my library with tithe and land grant. I might use Blurred mungoose isntead, I wanan playtset the deck first.

Legionairres will stay tho. they provide alot controll and mobility. I can survive Pandeburst, can block and kill two critter/deal dmg and so on.
Light on land? 22 mana and I gett pretty much the land I need due to land grant and tithe.
I know I have wasteland and strip mine, but since I dont have many spells that´s expensive, it´s still enough.

Dimond is there for speed ofcourse. This deck can have second turn kills (not likely but still), so speed is a thing I need. (it´s T1 afterall). ´The same goes for this as for the Scavenger. I wanna est it first... (c:

The thing is, there's really no difference between your deck and mine besides mine's powerless and still packing better cards. Against control, I have the advantage because my creature base is more tuned. Against aggro, I don't care also because most of them use instants to activate the Gibbons, and then they're 4/4s to eat the other side. Your deck really wants to become mine.

I would REALLY like to know how you kill turn 2 with your deck :)

By Khy (Khy) on Saturday, May 25, 2002 - 01:24 pm:

it's possible, but very unlikely! hehe... you can modify it abit, but it´s still pretty much the same...

First turn: (land = land, mox or landgrant)
land, fastbond
land x3, wheel of fortune
land, savannah lion / kird ape

Second turn: (6+ cards in hand)
reckless charge x2, berserk, attack with critter.
add a fireblast or wax/wane to that...

By FeverDog (Feverdog) on Saturday, May 25, 2002 - 05:55 pm:

So you need an opening hand with 2 restricted cards, then you need to draw into your Berserk and a pair of Reckless Charges... ok.

By Khy (Khy) on Sunday, May 26, 2002 - 07:49 am:

as I said, very unlikely, but it is possible. hehe...
