Is Turboland still viable?

Beyond Dominia: The Type 1.5/1.X Magic Mill: Is Turboland still viable?

I think the answer is yes, but the last results (PT:NO for reference) make me think it may be dead. If you think it is still viable (please specify tier) please post the listing you'd use under the current metagame.

I'm sorry, but Turboland is not viable in the PTQ environment.Any deck that uses Oath in general is probably not good call.I went to a PTQ at High Point, NC this past weekend.I saw almost all the Oath and Turboland decks in the draw bracket.I think it also has trouble with Trix and Holistic Wisdom decks, which is not good given the current metagame.I beat a Turboland deck, that finished 2-3-1, with my Secret Force deck, finished 4-2.So if you want to play combo, play Trix or Holistic Wisdom

whats the holistic wisdom combo?

By Drizzt on Monday, December 03, 2001 - 01:55 pm:

Yeah, what is it?

By is it just me? on Monday, December 03, 2001 - 09:41 pm:

u got me

By Guapeton on Tuesday, December 04, 2001 - 03:46 pm:

I dont know about any combo with holistic wisdom but heres a deck with wisom that ive been working on:

4 Impulse
4 Counterspell
4 FOW
3 Wrath of God
2 Intuition
4 Accumulated Knowledge
2 Disenchant
3 Swords to Plowshares
1 Fact or Fiction
1 Forbid
1 Morphling
4 Holistic Wisdom
3 Call of the Herd

4 Flood Plain
4 Tundra
4 Savannah
4 Tropical Island
4 Wasteland
2 Treetop Village
1 Faerie Conclave
1 Island

Its basically dumbo drop.dec with holistic wisdoms added. It seems to me like a very powerful card and works well with others card in the deck...So there u have it: a holistic wisdom deck (its not a combo but still...:))

turboland is good if you play a good version i have a very good version that has almost no problem with any decki have come across

By Turkish on Tuesday, December 04, 2001 - 06:42 pm:

can you post your version?

By Stevie Saylor on Wednesday, December 05, 2001 - 02:44 am:

The Holistic Wisdom combo is called Turbo chant it uses the Wisdom to bring back the card called Orims Chant over and over agian by droping cards like life bursts an swords to plowshares also Disenchant to get Infinte Turns while milling them in the progress

By Gzeiger (Gzeiger) on Wednesday, December 05, 2001 - 03:17 am:

Hmm, that Holistic Wisdom combo. That's really dumb, actually.

By Stevie Saylor on Wednesday, December 05, 2001 - 03:31 am:

yes i agree it's not strong to unstable

By URMage on Wednesday, December 05, 2001 - 10:41 am:

Dumbo Drop w/ Holistic Wisdom IS a combo deck.Get 3 Accumulates in the graveyard and drop Holistic Wisdom and watch the opponent scoop. It's really quite disgusting.

By Drizzt on Wednesday, December 05, 2001 - 11:10 am:

My Oath deck is using Holistic Wisdom as well, and I'm finding it quite abusive. Not a shameless plug or anything......

As far as Turboland, if your name is Zvi, Turboland is great. Otherwise I think it is a difficult deck to play well.

By Ben on Wednesday, December 05, 2001 - 03:56 pm:

I play Turbo Land. It is viable, just really hard to get it so you can play it fast enough not to draw every round. It is able to be done though... ...lots of practice. Know the deck inside and out, and you can win PTQs. As for its match ups they are all ok. Trix is not really as tough as it sounds. just last night, I got Illusions Donated to me twice but i saced Feeder the first time (Duhh), and was able to go infinate, paying the upkeep and gaining life with the Feeder untill I got to 23 and then let the Illusions die. Morph sent for 50+!!! Over all Turbo Land is tight enough to play at major tournies, just ask Zvi.

i'm kinda shy about this decklist but if you want it email me at

Ts***e@a***p.com

use subject turboland or i'llthink it's junk mail and delete it thanks

By Vesuvan (Vesuvan) on Friday, December 07, 2001 - 05:51 am:

From what I saw at the PTQ last weekend, Turboland is a good deck if you like getting draws. Most of the Turbolnd players were sporting 2+ draws after the 4th round, and thus were out of the top 8.

Unless your name is Zvi, Turboland just doesn't seem to cut it in the current environment. If your opponent doesn't mind getting a draw (hence doesn't scoop), Turboland can be harder to finish games in the time limit than Stasis is... and that's saying something!

By Landlord on Friday, December 07, 2001 - 08:44 am:

turboland is still a good choice, if you modify it a little
I added red for fire/ice(instead of oath !) and dropped the spikes for 1 crater hellion and 1 extra counter
this version is good vs illusion but weaker vs creatures (oaths are in side)

By Gzeiger (Gzeiger) on Sunday, December 09, 2001 - 08:19 pm:

Vesuvan - how so? It typically only takes five turns once you get the recursion going - one to play Morphling and four to kill with him. Once you get the library depleted it's fairly straightforward to Scroll Rack into the Time Warp each turn - there's not a lot of fanciness involved.

By Superman on dope on Tuesday, December 11, 2001 - 03:10 am:

Zvi's "TurboLand: Plan B" did not do extremely well at GP Vegas because he had prepared it for a field full of Trix combo and control decks. It turned out that green/x aggro were running rampant, a vastly different metagame. Still a good deck as long as you modify it right.
