I play extended decks (because thats all i've got!) in a casual environment against many type 1 and 1.5 decks, such as parfait and keeper, and
I started toying around with the notion of sitting behind the ensn. bridge throwing mad burn at their head. but I got so tired of seeing my opponent top deck an ivory tower or zuran orb, that I decided I would no longer like to win by damage but by decking. Slowly I started with varoius kill mechanimss such as millstones, but the problem was global reset buttons and / or devout witnesses. i also was toying with jester's cap recursion as well as karn, spiritual asylusm and other various things that didn't work. then it hit me, and i dawned upon a deck that obliterates (IMHO) deedmonger and friends style decks + reanimator + alot of other things and it is this :
SB: 1 Ivory Mask
SB: 1 Jester's Cap
SB: 1 Sacred Ground
SB: 1 Seal of Cleansing
SB: 3 Dwarven Miner
SB: 2 Ruination
SB: 2 Boil
SB: 4 Pyroblast
1 Cursed Totem
1 Story Circle
1 Helm of Obedience
4 Phyrexian Furnace
4 Aura of Silence
4 Enlightened Tutor
4 Voltaic Key
4 Grim Monolith
4 Null Brooch
4 Goblin Welder
4 Fellwar Stone
4 Ensnaring Bridge
Why the deck (optimally) works:
voltaic key, grim monolith, null brooch
goblin welder, aura of silence, ensnaring bridge.
Key Monolith, broooch & bridge provide me all the protection i need, 4 maindeck aura of silences do quite a number on pernicious deed players, enough time for me to set up the brooch lock, fellwar stones/keys/monoliths to make sure i accelerate into such a lock & bridge to finish it off. Welders are amazing as some of you already know in the right deck (Teletubbies)
there are some metagame choices i want to point out first. the first is cursed totem. that is there to stop things i wouldnt mind sacrificing my goblin welders for, such as MORPHLING which gets around everything normally. DEVOUT WITNESS i cannot stand the lady, and various jank cards such as Ertai wizard adepts, etc...
I decided to go only 8 non basic lands to help protect myself against an early b2b, and I am going 4 aura of silences becaues i hate kegs and their ilk.
Story circle is better than ivory mask because i can normally just name red (which is an acceptable substitute for ivory mask), and it provides me more time to establish a lock.
Also the 1 helm of obedience is there to make sure I can deck them for sure, and the 4 furances do a number of amazing things against many decks including blessing.
This deck is incredibly boring to play against but once you see the possibilities with Key/Brooch/Bridge, you will have ALOT OF FUN making sure your opponent is SCREWED. This is a casual deck ive never played a tourney with it, but I think its tourney quality.
Also i took out 4 swords to plowshares becaues I figure just go straight for the lock ASAP instead of playing around with swords.
One more fun thing: it is fun to go into helm mode, because you can weld in response to the helm.
