I ran into this decklist from the coverage of the 2001 world championships in Toronto.

Christian Luhrs
Welder Red

Main Deck
4 Ancient Tomb
4 City of Traitors
12 Mountain

4 Goblin Welder
4 Masticore

4 Grim Monolith
4 Mind Stone
4 Smokestack
4 Sphere of Resistance
4 Tangle Wire
4 Tsabo's Web
4 Urza's Bauble
4 Voltaic Key

Sideboard
4 Bottle Gnomes
4 Mogg Salvage
4 Pyroblast
3 Rejuvenation Chamber

I am not familiar with the archtype other than it looks like Tinker replacing the Islands with Mountains and the Tinkers with Welders.

Has anyone got any experience with this deck?

it intrigued me as well. i played with it for a little while, at least long enough to know that it's too slow to beat sligh (and the welders get killed really easily). it also really needs a welder to function, it rolls over and dies without it. it's pretty fun when it works though. i think thet tinker is just a better deck, although i really do like goblin welders.

btw, the webs were probally the best part of the deck in my opinion... which is boh interesting and insulting

U need a big bomb to pull the trick off.
Like something huge from your graveyard, that comes back with welder

I have made it and it is fun to play, you can win against sligh, here is how:

Get this down on the table as soon as possible:

1 Smokestack
1 Sphere of Resistance
Tangle Wire x1

Once they have only one mountain and you have this out, you can safely play your welder, with out it getting shocked.

BTW, Sphere of Resistance is very good vs Supergrow.
