Here's a deck i just finished, it's pretty good but suffers at the hands of mono-U even when i have a port in play:

4 Stone Rain
4 Pillage
4 Avalanche Riders
2 Techtonic Break

4 Incinerate
4 Shock
3 hammer of Bogardan
2 Fault Line

2 Masticore
2 Flowstone Overseer
2 Lightning Dragon

4 Rishidan Port
4 Ghitu Encampment
3 Wasteland
14 Mountain

S.B.
2 Boil
4 Pyroblast
3 Powder Keg
2 Shatterstorm
4 Arc Lightning

LMK what u all think, it's based off a type 2 version (when urza's block was legal), Thanks!

Pretty much momo blue makes just about every red deck its bitch, atleast if your playing best 2 of 3. from my experience if your playing mono red against mono blue the red will win game one. but the there is game 2 and 3. blue has such a hrsh sideboard against red that usually it wins both game 2 and 3. Mainly its chill, the pro red faeries and hydrobl;asts that will sit you down. so i guess all you can do is hope you don't play a blue deck, and if you do the pray.

With Tectonic Breaks, you might consider Fire Diamonds, which also help with the mana Curve. I think Ponza used Ancient Tombs for turn 2 LD.

I'm a big Ponza fan,so lets take this bad boy apart..

4 Stone Rain
4 Pillage
4 Avalanche Riders
2 Techtonic Break

Pretty good. The only thing I'm not wild about is the Breaks.Simply put,I feel they are just too slow for Extended.Hell,I'm not all that crazy about them in t2 either.Without some kind of mana acceleration they are just a costly Stone Rain.Plus, you need room for other stuff.

4 Incinerate
4 Shock
3 hammer of Bogardan
2 Fault Line

Fault Line doesnt make the cut.If you REALLY feel you need a board sweeper,I'd go with Earthquake. It's cheaper and the fact that Fault Line is an instant really isnt going to matter much.I'd rather have Seal of Fire instead of Shock since its a good one drop and frees up your mana.Hammers are fine.

2 Masticore
2 Flowstone Overseer
2 Lightning Dragon

Way too much fat.I'd go down to 2 Masticores and add some other creatures I'll talk about later.

4 Rishidan Port
4 Ghitu Encampment
3 Wasteland
14 Mountain

Just add a 4th Wasteland and your good to go.

With my changes that leaves us with 8 slots to play with.First thing i would do is add 4 Cursed Scrolls. Now we all know this card is good, but in this deck it's even better. Its a colorless damage source that gets around pyroblasts, circles, chill, pro red and helps you out vs creature heavy decks. Its just tailor made for this deck.

Now with the 4 remaining slots you gotta make a choice.I would suggest either Jackal Pups or Mogg Fanatics. If blue is giving you a hard time and you expect a lot of combo,I'd go with the pups.If the field is expected to be more creature heavy I'd go with moggs.Or,if you really want to get kooky, you could drop a hammer,a Core and some other stuff and run both.Moggs serve as cheap removal too.

Now the side...

S.B.
2 Boil
4 Pyroblast
3 Powder Keg
2 Shatterstorm
4 Arc Lightning

I like the 4 Pyroblasts and 2 Boil. However I would definately make room for 3 Anarchys, since white enchantments can be ugly.At this point,I dont think you need Shatterstorm.I would rather squeeze some Bottle Gnomes in there.Hand vs Sligh, aggro decks and tricks. The Arc Lightnings and Kegs all come down to metagame,so thats up to you.

Thats my two cents, for what its worth(2 cents?)

Crazy, crazy idea, but as one-drop creatures go in a Ponza deck, the best I've seen is the Flailing Soldier. A 2/2 for one. You can pump him, or your opponent can spend mana to unpump him. If he doesn't unpump, he rapidly becomes a huge killer. If he does unpump him, you're really tying up their mana, which fits with the theme.

(They're also cute against Oath, because if you need to stop the opponent from Oathing, you can just kill your soldier for two mana.
