Beyond Dominia: The Limited Magic Mill: Community - Card Ratings and StarCity submissions

I thought I would post this quick message because my submission to Star City about draft strategy went up today, and in it I promised card evaluations here. So for anyone that gets interested and drops by, this is to let them know that my first block of card evaluations goes up tonight (unless Rakso tells me not to, it's not quite what he had in mind for the mill). But maybe this will get some discussions going here again. Anyway, I'll present them alphabetically, just going over the cards used in my analysis, and in blocks (a-d, etc).

In other news, I'm doing my regular morning netsurf today and I discover that Gary Wise is planning to evaluate the set in a similar way (just much better) for the Sideboard, looking at allied combinations instead of individual colours. Must be something in the Ontario tapwater.

The link? :)

I wouldn't mind you posting individual cards in separate threads for discussion purposes. This is what MTGnews did with its spoiler, anyway, and replies here are better backed with clear-headed thinking. :)

That's the link to the submission I wrote.

Anyway, I did promise a card by card go through, and it's important that people can compare so they can do their own analysis, so I think I'll post ratings in batches, and suggest that if anyone thinks I've under or over rated a card they can start a new topic to discuss it. Would this be acceptible?

The Ontario players are among the best drafters in magic. IO played up there for years. Gary got good by going head to head with Gabe Tsang, Gary Krakower, John from 401 and others. He always kicked my butt in draft. I just could not manage to beat him in that format.

Looks like everyone is getting their articles posted now. That's great. Hope you mentioned the Mill :)

My new column is going up on brainburst sometime this week I hope.

Our league does not do regular drafts. We prefer crazy format drafts - Invasion is no land draft and you play as you draft. Four people to a table and the card you draft can be used for mana in its casting cost ( 1 mana only ) or as a spell. Its insane with all the gold cards. You end up deciding between playing a card as a dual land or a spell. If ypou need a blocker to protect yourself (remember its multiplayer) you cast a spell. Or if its a really god card you hold it(can still be used for mana later).

You heard it here first ( Gabe Tsang actually was the first to teach me this style up in Toronto - he liked winning my cards).

Got any draft tips for this format :)

Stay rogue

I had some draft tips in the submission. And yeah, I know that my beautiful province has spawned a wealth of magic talent. On the other hand, it spawned me too, so things balance out. That was where the tapwater comment came from.
