These games were so incredibly luck-based it was dumb. Here are my notes.

Hand1: Force, Leak, Morph, Core, Keg, Island, Island

I go for a Keg to pop his Sol Ring

We fight

I win

I tap out

He FoF's

I Force

He Forces

Leak, Island, Keg, Walk, BtB

I put Keg/Walk together, he takes it

I screwed up. I realize that he has more cards

So I play my Core and hope to win in five turns

He plays Core too

We realize how dumb this is- each 2 cards in hand

I topdeck Ancestral

I topdeck two FoF

Cast both

He concedes

Hand2: 3 Island Waste Drain Scroll Keg

He plays lots of fast mana, but doesn't FoF before I get Drain up

He FoF's eot, I Drain it successfully

He plays a Vise

then a Morph.

I scroll into Ancestral into Morph

MISE!

He fof's Force, Drain, Morph, Grind, Island

He takes ForceDrainGrind

I go for Walk, he Drains, I Drain, assuming he won't have blue card

I do some stuff

He forces a FoF with Drain

I try to trade Morphs

We do

I Mana Short him for a Time Walk

I blow up his Stone, Ring, Vise with a Keg

He shows me a Drain by accident

We draw crap for a long time

We build up our hands

I have a lot more mana than him

He FoF's eot, we fight

I win

He untaps doing nothing

I drop Core, Morph Morph

he Forces Morph One, Drains Morph Two

My only card in hand is Misdirection, he Ancestrals

If he counters wierd things happen

WHAT DO YOU DO?

I misdirect it

I GET IT!

WOO HOO

I draw FoF, Morph, Force

Mise. Win.

I'll have a link up to the post-game screen shot in a second, along with decks.

ohhhhh, BBS vs BBS... oh... the thrill... the excitement...

By Xplosion on Monday, December 03, 2001 - 08:43 pm:

Was that the end of the semi-finals? If not, which matches are left, if so, it's Parrot Vs? JP?

Interesting field, indeed:
6 Keeper
6 mono-B
4 COMBO
4 Zoo/Sligh/SRB
4 "creative"/Oath
and only
3 mono-U (one of which is by no means close to a "standard" mono-U).

I mean, that's a very subtle possibility to "prove" that accelerated.blue is NOT the best deck: If everybody refuses to play it, it will definitely not make it to the top 8...

....whoever said this is a sheer dope considering ALL THREE mono-blue decks made top*

By Acolytec (Acolytec) on Monday, December 03, 2001 - 10:57 pm:

Yeah. Each game I would reduce both of us to nothing. Then I would draw 7 lands in a row while parrot would draw one card drawer after another. I would then proceed to lose.

Blue on blue is completely stupid.

By Burning Ice, the Elementalist (Burningice) on Monday, December 03, 2001 - 11:11 pm:

My deck's nothing like XL-U... It's more Zoo then anything, it just happens to be one color.

By Hyper Emotion Monster (Sylvester) on Monday, December 03, 2001 - 11:14 pm:

Ufactor:Erhm... The only problem here is that Real Life influenced the results about as much as the matches themselves 8(

How many had to drop bc they didn't ahve time?

By Acolytec (Acolytec) on Tuesday, December 04, 2001 - 02:04 am:

Yes, but the fact is, the top 8 would have changed very little even without the drops in my opinion. Azheri was one of the shining dropouts as an excelent player with an excelent deck, granted.

By Magimaster on Tuesday, December 04, 2001 - 03:10 am:

dumb question:

where did ya get that skin for apprentice?

thanks

By Rakso, Patriarch & Rules Ayatollah (Rakso) on Tuesday, December 04, 2001 - 03:33 am:

Suggestion.

You should've agreed to put ten Islands out each before each game to cut to the chase.

By ETP on Tuesday, December 04, 2001 - 04:59 pm:

I have the same question as Magimaster.
Where can i find that Theme for apprentice?
on a related note, does anyone know of places to find different themes?

By Ufactor (Ufactor) on Tuesday, December 04, 2001 - 05:07 pm:

Hyper,
talk walks!!

the results are still results

By Hyper Emotion Monster (Sylvester) on Tuesday, December 04, 2001 - 05:45 pm:

Ufactor:Sylvester, plz ;-)

I think that you can use the results to see trends, but not specifics about the ranking of decks which were played by only one player.

By CooberP, the Aura Fracturer of B2Bs (Cooberp) on Tuesday, December 04, 2001 - 05:47 pm:

This revolting matchup is a thing of the past. Have fun fighting counter wars over EOTFOFYL's for......................one more month!

By Rakso, Patriarch & Rules Ayatollah (Rakso) on Tuesday, December 04, 2001 - 07:13 pm:

Your decks are both declared illegal.

Sligh wins T1ToC5 by default.
